Sports

For the purpose of nurturing outstanding sports players with professional qualities and educate them about a broad knowledge of sports and physical education, Inje University operates sports teams, which can contribute to the development of the local community and national sports.
The rowing team was founded in 1988, body building team in 1990, ssireum (traditional Korean wrestling) team and field hockey (women) in 1991, and soccer team in 1996. All athletes are doing their best in their places. The teams has achieved remarkable results and not a few athlete has become national players. Since 2020, Inje University has been operating the convergence major of global sports coaching to improve the performance of student athletes and nurture them into leaders armed with practical skills in professional sports fields.

Rowing Team

Rowing Team
Established in 1988, the rowing team performs well in national rowing competitions. Jang Gang-eun, Class of 2012, participated in 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games and 2008 Beijing Olympics, and Kim In-won, Class of 2013, competed in 2012 London Olympics. Park Hyeon-su, Class of 2017, has been competing on the national rowing team since 2015, and won third place in the 17th Asian Rowing Championship and participated in the Asian regional competition for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Park Hyun-soo, in class of ‘14, won first place in the 2017 Asian Championships in Thailand during his school days, and after graduation, he won a gold medal at 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta- Palembang.

Hockey Team

Hockey Team
Founded in 1991, the Hockey team is sweeping over the top in various domestic hockey competitions. Park Mi-Hyun, in class of ‘04, participated in the 2004 Athens Olympics during her school days, and Cho Hye-jin, a ‘13 grader, competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Korean women's hockey won the gold medal at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and Cho Eun-ji, Park Mih-yeon, Chun Seul-gi, and Cho Hye-jin from Inje University played in the national team.

Soccer Team

Soccer Team
Founded in 1996, the soccer team has been playing steadily with excellent results by participating in various domestic competitions. In 2004 and 2007, they won bronze medals at national sports competitions. Jeong Seok-min in class of ‘06 played for the U-20 national junior team in 2007, and after graduation, he joined the Pohang Steelers professional soccer team. Choi Yong-woo in class of ’07, won the K3 League MVP in 2018, and played for the Pohang Steelers professional soccer team in 2019, and is currently a member of the Busan Transportation Corporation soccer team.

Ssireum (traditional Korean wrestling) Team

Ssireum Wrestling Team
Founded in 1991, the ssireum wrestling team plays an important role in continuing the line of this Korean traditional sport. Kim Gyeong-su (Class of 1996), who won the heavyweight national championship in 1995 and 1996, graduated from Inje University, as well as Hwang Gyu-yeon (Class of 1997) who won the middleweight national championship twice and heavyweight championship twice, and is now the coach for Samho Elephant Ssireum Wrestling Team. Jang Jeong-il (Class of 1999) won the lightweight championship five times, while Lee Seul-gi (Class of 2008) won the heavyweight championship twice and middleweight championship three times. Jeong Gyeong-jin (Class of 2009) won one heavyweight championship and six middleweight championships.

Bodybuilding Team

Bodybuilding Team
Founded in 1990, the Bodybuilding team participated in various domestic competitions and won prizes until 2005. In particular, Oh Gyeong-mo, a student in class of 94, won prizes in numerous domestic and international competitions, including the Mr. University Contest in 1995. After graduation, he won the Grand Prize at the 2003 Mr. Korea Contest and the Sport Merit Medal in 2011, and is currently serving as a professor at the Department of Sports and Leisure of Busan Gyeongsang National University. In addition, this team produced a bodybuilder, Lee Jin-ho, who won the first place in Mr. Asia and the World Games in 2009. Lee Jin-ho, a student in class of 95, was awarded the 2005 Mr. Korea Award, while attending school.
