Leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution by carrying out innovative national projects

The reliability and possibility of a university is determined by the number of national projects it has carried out. Inje University has been selected for various key national projects-such as PRIME, BK 21 Plus, and CK Project-contributing to improving the quality of education and increasing the competitiveness of students.

PRIME, A Government-Funded Program on a Whole Different Level

The PRIME project aims to reinforce students’ career capabilities and solving manpower mismatches in the industrial field through the university’s autonomous improvement of constitution and structural reform. Only 9 out of 191 four-year universities nationwide were selected in large-scale projects, and Inje University is, remarkably, among them. Inje University has carried out projects for improving the educational environment of the university for 3 years (2016~2018) with a government subsidy of KRW 43 billion and KRW 9.6 billion in transferred money of the foundation of the university. We are also conducting a variety of programs during the post-management period (2019-2024), including employment and start-up programs, overseas training and internships, and scholarship, etc.
As a part of the PRIME project, Inje University established 6 departments in accordance with rapidly changing demand of industries: Biotechnology, Healthcare IT, Future Energy Engineering, Design Engineering, Interior & Architecture, and Multimedia. We are making every effort to strengthen career education through convergence and complex liberal arts education and reorganization into demand-based curriculum.
In particular, Inje University's specialized field, biomedical healthcare, has increased its capacity. In addition, BNIT(Bio Nano Information Technology) College and related departments are newly established to maximize synergy with the existing medical college, pharmacy college, and health and medical convergence college, and to link with national strategic industries.

The First Korean University that Became a Member of CDIO

Since we joined the CDIO(Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate), an international educational framework for fostering the future engineers, for the first time in Korea, we have been promoting the empirical and creative engineering education by incorporating the CDIO education philosophy with the curriculum of the new department of the PRIME project.

BK(Brain Korea)21 Plus promoting brains of Korea

In the phase-4 BK 21 Plus, Inje University’s 4C Design Education Research Group, NANO 4.0 Convergence Materials and Components, and Regional Innovation Talent Training Center were selected.
Through these projects, the university provides monthly research scholarships to graduate students in related areas so that they may concentrate on their studies and academic researches, and supports financially qualified research workforces including research professors, etc. And we are nurturing research workforces at the master's and doctoral level and each year approximetely 900 million wons have been funded by the government and local governments.

A Leading University for the International Cooperation Project That Improves Global Health Care Quality

Following Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH) and Ewha University, Inje University was selected by the Ministry of Education as a Leading University for International Cooperation Project. As part of the program, Inje University transformed Sri Lanka’s national nursing school into a four-year nursing university and then established the Emergency Nursing Training Program while offering Medical Information System Training. Thanks to the efforts that Inje University has put, the Sri Lankan government decided to allocate KRW 20 billion for the nursing university. Based on the experience of successfully carrying out the project, Inje University was selected as the Leading University Project for International Cooperation(extended type) for the first time in the nation. From 2020, we are to carry out a project for 7 years with the goal of remodeling the nursing curriculum in Laos to strengthen nursing manpower and improve the health environment.

Moreover, Inje University has carried out various projects to enhance health care quality across the world. In the last ten years, it has engaged in about 75 ODA projects with funds amounting to KRW 72 billion, contributing to international cooperation. In 2015, Inje University was selected by the Korean Educational Development Institute as the best institute that actively carries out ODA projects and as the best Leading University for International Cooperation by the Ministry of Education.

LINC+ Project for Leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Inje University was selected in Leaders in INdustry-university Cooperation(LINC+) by the Ministry of Education. Until 2021, we will receive government fund amounting to KRW 18 billion for five years. The university aims to lead LINC+ by successfully developing its own special programs: establishment and operation of internal/external linkage system to vitalize industry-academia cooperation; operation of educational programs linked to industry-academia cooperation that will lead the era of the 4th industrial revolution; operation of excellent regional collaboration centers and excellent corporate collaboration centers for interactive cooperation with local communities and companies.
