Originating from Industrial Engineering, Systems Management Engineering (SME) is, unlike general engineering, a discipline whose object is tuned into “systems.” It deals with how to harmoniously design, plan, and manage all the fields constituting the systems through a combination of engineering technology and management. Targeted at manufacturing systems, represented by man, supply, and machine, like manufacturing companies, service systems for customers like financial institutions, and public systems, represented by their members and policy management, like government organizations, it pursues optimalization, rationalization, and efficiency in all processes of designing, modeling, planning, managing, controling, and evaluating the systems so that it can diagnose and analyze them as if clinicians take care of their patients and evolve through changes and developments. Therefore, all Systems Management Engineering majors are equipped with a variety of skills on the basis of a business mindset, and play a role of a conductor in the “industrial” orchestra who leads the highly developed knowledge-based fusion society.
Through specialized courses in management evolution, information systems, and manufacturing systems, we enhance the quality of education and its effectiveness, and are fostering fusion-type versatile talent who can wear many hats, equipped with creative problem-solving abilities as well as engineering and managerial knowledge.
