The College of Medicine with the foundation of 'Saving the world with the healing art' and 'Saving the world with the humanity' seeks to train 'warm-hearted doctors and nurses' and 'doctors and nurses essential to the 21st Century' who will serve and contribute to the human society. Since the founding of the College in 1979, our graduates as excellent doctors and nurses have had occupations not only in the five affiliated Baik hospitals located in Seoul and Busan but also in various fields throughout the country and worldwide as well. Ceaseless research and development are in progress to provide the best education and scholastic environment. Annual increase in budget has made us to achieve excellent research outcomes and to obtain outstanding facilities. The College of Medicine has continuously tried to serve our society by focusing on the social activities related with medicine, the environment, and human well-being. We try to instill in our medical students and trainees a genuine respect for human dignity, cultural diversity, and above all, the belief that the patient's well-being is foremost.
History
1932
Doctor Paik Inje, the Department Chair of Gyeongseong Medical School's Department of Surgery, founded a surgery hospital on the site where Paik Hospital in Seoul is currently located

Doctor Paik Inje contributed all his wealth to building the first public hospital in Korea, Paik Hospital, with the ideal of "Saving the world with the healing art"
1951
Doctor Kim Heegyu became the second director of the hospital
Jan. 1961
Doctor Paik Nakwhan became the third director of the hospital and begins efforts to remodel it
Mar. 1972
Paik Hospital in Seoul was expanded into a general hospital
Jan. 1979
Thanks to the efforts of Doctor Paik Nakwhan, Inje Academy and the Inje Medical School were founded; Doctor Paik Nakjo was named the first Chairman; the Paik Jungang Medical Center was launched; Doctor Paik Nakwhan was named the director of the new Medical Center

Inje Medical School was opened; Doctor Jeon Jonghui became the first president

The Medical Research Center was opened

The Paik Hospital in Busan was opened

Doctor Shin Donghun became the second president of Inje Medical School (until Sep. 1986)

The Medical School's name was changed to Inje College; the Gimhae Campus was opened

The Jungang Medical Research Center was opened

Doctor Choi Hajin became the third president of Inje College

Inje College was raised to the status of university

Paik Nakwhan became the first president of the university

The Neurology Research Center was opened

The aim of education

With the founding idealogy of 'Saving the world with the healing art', we train our students to possess all the skills necessary to work in the field of health administration.  After graduation, our students will go forth to serve and contribute to society by becoming clinical medicine educators, medical researchers, and healthcare administrators.  To accomplish these goals, we have established the following as purposes of education:
1. To acquire the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary for determining various medical problems and solving them
2. To cultivate a sense of duty and responsibility as doctors for patients
3. To cultivate an ability to constantly evaluate and improve oneself in order study and research one's entire life
4. To raise up an attitude and habit of cooperation and understanding in modern society.
